August 03 The Pied Piper Alehouse - a quick reviewThis newish pub is not technically in Wedgwood (65th and 25th Ave NE in Ravenna) but it is close enough to qualify for a blog entry. After hearing from some friends that the Pied Piper was indeed kid friendly and owned by the folks who run the Montlake and Madrona Alehouses we decided to check it out. After a little circling for parking (we ended up on 25th which was a little challenging with the kiddos) we headed in around 6:30pm and we're surprised to not find much of a crowd inside. The vibe was comfortable and friendly. The menu had your standard pub fare and some fancier stuff like lamb chops and shrimp fettuccine. They had lots of great Northwest microbrews on tap. The burgers and salads arrived quickly and were really tasty (great fresh rolls on the sandwiches). Overall I'd say this place is a great little addition to the neighborhood and we look forward to returning before everyone else discovers it (hmmm maybe I shouldn't be blogging about it?).
One suggestion to the owners - a kids play area like the one you have at Montlake would be super cool.
Update: upon a return visit I had the "chicken under a brick" which I would not recommend (too chewy, saucy). My wife had a salad she really enjoyed and the service was still great.
